The ongoing friction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reached a new boiling point as Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), publicly criticized Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
Addressing a gathering of supporters in Rivers State this Sunday, on the 28th of December, 2025, Wike voiced his frustration over what he described as suspicious business narratives.
In a video that has since gone viral on X, the former Rivers State Governor lamented the nature of contract execution and profit-making in the country. Wike targeted the plausibility of certain financial claims, stating: “You see, it’s only in Nigeria that someone will get a $1 million contract, and his profit will be the same $1 million; if that is the case, only God will help us.”
The Minister further announced his intention to provide a detailed response to Governor Makinde’s recent assertions in an interview scheduled for Monday, the 29th of December.

This latest exchange follows a media chat on Tuesday, the 23rd December, 2025, where Governor Makinde reflected on his personal wealth and early career. Makinde claimed to have achieved millionaire status at the age of 29 a time when, he noted, Wike was still at a much earlier stage of his career.
During that session, Makinde reportedly said he made his first $1 million when Minister Wike was leaving law school and jostling for a local government chairmanship position.
The war of words between the two former “G5” allies underscores a widening rift in the PDP leadership. As the party continues to navigate internal instability, the personal rivalry between the FCT Minister and the Oyo State Governor has become a focal point of the broader struggle for control and political alignment.
