The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has embarked on a vacation after spending more than 30 days commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja.
Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, disclosed this in a post on X on Monday.
According to Olayinka, the minister used the extended period of official engagements to inspect and review several projects across the Federal Capital Territory, particularly those scheduled for commissioning in December and January next year.
“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones, especially those scheduled for commissioning in December and January, next year,” Olayinka wrote.
The minister has in recent weeks been involved in several project commissioning and inspection activities across the FCT as the administration intensifies efforts to complete ongoing infrastructure projects.
Olayinka said Wike had now taken time off to rest following the prolonged period of official activities.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, was appointed Minister of the FCT by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023.
Since assuming office, he has prioritised road construction, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, expansion of public facilities and development projects across the FCT and its satellite towns.
The minister’s latest vacation comes as the FCT Administration continues work on several projects expected to be commissioned in the coming months.
The period away from official duties is expected to give Wike an opportunity to rest before returning to oversee the implementation of ongoing projects across the nation’s capital.
