Williams Uchemba Urges Public Execution of Kidnappers to Fight Rising Insecurity

Nollywood star Williams Uchemba has urged the Nigerian government to implement public executions for those convicted of kidnapping. He argued that clear and strict punishment is the only effective way to curb the growing spate of abductions nationwide.

In an Instagram video, Uchemba voiced his disappointment over what he called the government’s failure to enforce existing laws regarding capital punishment.

The father of two emphasized that the lack of severe consequences encourages criminals to commit crimes without fear of reprisal.

Uchemba pointed to China as a model, highlighting that the country applies the death penalty for serious offenses like kidnapping and corruption, a policy he credits for its low crime rates.

“The capital punishment for kidnapping is death, yet Ehen offenders are arrested we hardly hear what happens afterwards.

“If you ask me, there should even be a dedicated TV channel showing the arrest and public execution of convicted kidnappers. Until real consequences are enforced, nothing will change,” he stated.

His remarks come as kidnapping cases surge across Nigeria, especially with the festive season approaching, a period often linked with heightened criminal activity.

Uchemba called on authorities to take decisive action, insisting that firm and public enforcement of justice would deter offenders and restore public confidence in the legal system.
