Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is preparing for another historic culinary challenge, the cooking of what is expected to be the largest pot of jollof rice ever made as earlier reported by First Daily
The project, billed as the “Gino World Jollof Fest with Hilda Baci,” will take place in Lagos on Friday, September 12, 2025, in collaboration with food brand Gino.
Baci, who came to global prominence in May 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon at 93 hours and 11 minutes, announced the details of her new challenge in a video posted on her Instagram page on Monday, September 1, 2025.
She revealed that the custom-built pot designed for the attempt has a volume of 22,619 litres, with a target of filling it up to 75–80 percent.
To achieve this, she calculated that she would need around 5,278 kilogrammes of rice, which amounts to about 264 bags.
However, she confirmed that she had decided to work with 250 bags of rice instead.

“My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 per cent. That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice to achieve the yield. I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags,” she said.
Baci also outlined the massive scale of condiments required for the feat. According to her, the recipe will take 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste.
She added that varieties of Gino tomato paste like pepper chicken paste and jollof paste will be used to create what she described as the “most delicious, largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice you have ever tasted.”
A trial run of the equipment was conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2025, during which her team tested the logistics of handling such a large volume of food.
The rehearsal footage, widely circulated online, has since sparked excitement and debate over Nigeria’s jollof rice dominance.
The jollof fest is expected to attract a huge crowd, blending food, entertainment, and cultural showcases.
Organisers say the event will highlight Nigeria’s culinary pride while reinforcing the country’s growing reputation for record-breaking achievements.
