Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has said that no actress in the Nigerian film industry can afford a Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G-Wagon) solely from acting income.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade argued that the financial structure of Nollywood does not support such luxury purchases through acting fees alone.
He noted that while some actresses drive high-end cars, the proceeds from film roles are not enough to fund them.
“How much are they paid per role? Even if someone tells you ₦50 million, is it realistic? Acting in Nigeria does not pay that much to buy a G-Wagon,” he said.

Solade suggested that those who own such vehicles may have additional sources of income, including producing, business ventures, endorsements, or receiving them as gifts.
The actor, known for his outspoken views, has previously criticised Nollywood’s pay structure, particularly for Yoruba-language productions, saying that many experienced performers still struggle to earn sustainable incomes from the profession.
His comments have reignited debate about earnings and the financial realities of Nollywood, especially for female actors whose lifestyle choices often come under public scrutiny.
