Yuletide Alert: NSCDC Rolls Out Full Security across Jigawa for Christmas, New Year

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has deployed officers across all 27 local government areas to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The deployment comes amid preparations for the Yuletide season, with Christian communities in the state engaging in shopping, buying clothes, stocking up on foodstuffs, and making arrangements for family gatherings, church services, and social events.

In a statement made available on Monday in Dutse, the state capital, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Badaruddeen Tijjani, said the operation involves both regular and specialised units, including personnel from the Operations, Anti-Vandal, and Intelligence units. The deployment covers worship centres, public places, parks, markets, and other areas of mass gatherings.

The Commandant of the NSCDC in Jigawa State instructed officers to adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and maintain professionalism at all times. Key entry and exit routes are being manned for surveillance, and vulnerable areas, public utilities, and places of worship are under protection.

The command urged residents to remain law-abiding, report suspicious activities, and for parents and guardians to monitor their wards during the festive period. Tijjani also discouraged the use of fireworks and other dangerous items to prevent panic and fire outbreaks, while warning vandals and criminal elements against targeting government installations or public utilities.

He added that anyone apprehended for violating the law would be dealt with accordingly. The NSCDC called for cooperation with sister security agencies to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.

The command wished Christian faithful a Merry Christmas and all residents a peaceful New Year.
