The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,380 personnel across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.
The deployment was announced in a statement issued on Saturday in Ilorin by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ayoola Shola.
According to the statement, the personnel were deployed to strengthen the protection of critical national assets, safeguard public facilities and ensure the safety of residents throughout the Yuletide period.
It stated that the deployment covers all 16 local government areas of the state, with officers drawn from elite and specialised units of the Corps.
“These include the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit,” the statement said.
The command noted that personnel had been strategically positioned based on threat assessments and operational requirements to ensure effective security coverage.

It further assured residents that the NSCDC would work closely with other security agencies, including local vigilante groups, to guarantee rapid response and comprehensive security throughout the festive season.
The command warned vandals and other criminal elements to desist from any attempt to disrupt public peace or tamper with critical assets, stressing that it was fully prepared to confront such actions.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant, be security-conscious and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
