Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed sympathy for communities and families affected by recent bandit attacks across the state and has convened an emergency security meeting to address rising insecurity.
The meeting, held on Friday at the Government House in Gusau and attended by heads of security agencies and relevant stakeholders, focused on reviewing the state’s security framework and implementing coordinated measures to counter bandit threats. Governor Lawal urged security officials to heighten vigilance, strengthen intelligence, and take immediate action to stay ahead of criminals and neutralise threats.
He also commiserated with security personnel who have lost their lives or sustained injuries and assured logistical, operational, and institutional support for both affected communities and security agencies to improve their effectiveness.

The emergency meeting follows reports of deadly bandit attacks, including the February 19 raid on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area, where at least 50 residents were killed. Survivors said attackers blocked access roads, fired at anyone in sight, and abducted several villagers, with some still missing.
Governor Lawal’s administration emphasized its commitment to protecting lives and property in Zamfara State through coordinated security efforts.
