Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s nomination form for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the gesture as a “beautiful birthday gift.”
Kalu, who celebrated his 55th birthday on May 5, 2026, joined other political figures on Tuesday in signing the presidential nomination form. The endorsement event also featured the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a post shared on his X account on Wednesday, the lawmaker representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State expressed appreciation for the opportunity, linking the moment to his birthday celebration.
According to him, “Yesterday, I had the rare privilege of endorsing and signing the nomination form of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, presented by the Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. James Faleke, alongside the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“This was indeed a beautiful birthday gift, to have had the opportunity of reaffirming my support and commitment to the continuity of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda as we look ahead to the 2027 elections.”
He further stated that he and other allies of the President remain committed to supporting Tinubu’s administration in delivering reforms aimed at national development and improved living conditions.
“We remain resolute in our pledge to work with Mr. President in delivering transformative reforms that will advance our nation’s development and improve the lives of our people,” Kalu said.
The endorsement comes days after Minister of Works, David Umahi, also signed the presidential nomination form, which he described as a “victory form” and a step toward sustaining ongoing national progress.

In a statement issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, Umahi said the move represents continuity and collective commitment to consolidating the achievements of the current administration.
He further described the nomination form as “a defining moment in Nigeria’s ongoing development journey,” noting that it symbolises “a collective commitment to continuity, stability, and the consolidation of gains recorded under the current administration.”
Recall that James Faleke had earlier obtained the All Progressives Congress Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of the President.
Faleke, who is also the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, purchased the forms in Abuja after the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, announced the commencement of the process.
The forms, valued at N100 million, officially marked the beginning of President Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
