Minister of Works, David Umahi, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition, formally endorsing it by signing the president’s nomination form.
The endorsement was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 5, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, who said the move reflects confidence in the administration’s direction and a desire to sustain its development agenda.
Umahi described the action as symbolic of broader support for continuity in leadership, stressing that it marks “a defining moment in Nigeria’s ongoing development journey,” while also representing “a collective commitment to continuity, stability, and the consolidation of gains recorded under the current administration.”
The minister highlighted the administration’s infrastructure drive, particularly in road construction and rehabilitation, as evidence of progress made so far.
He said the “ongoing projects across the country are part of the administration’s resolve to deliver tangible results,” noting that these efforts have laid a solid foundation for further economic growth and national transformation.

Umahi added that the president remains “well positioned to complete ongoing initiatives and further deepen development across all sectors.”
He also appealed for sustained public backing, emphasising that “consistent leadership is essential to achieving long-term national goals.”
The endorsement follows the earlier purchase of the All Progressives Congress expression of interest and nomination forms by James Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency and leads the Tinubu Support Groups.
Faleke obtained the forms in Abuja after the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, opened the process.
The forms, priced at ₦100 million, officially signal the start of Tinubu’s campaign for re-election ahead of the 2027 polls.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, with governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls scheduled for February 6, 2027.
