The Minister of Works denied allegations of sexual misconduct and financial impropriety on Saturday, February 28, 2026, describing the claims as unfounded and politically motivated.
He made the denial while speaking to journalists during an inspection of federal road projects in Enugu State, including major sections of the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway and associated infrastructure.
The accusations originated from a social media video posted by Tracyniter Nicholas Ohiri, a businesswoman who alleged that the minister demanded sexual favours in exchange for settling a debt she linked to past business dealings.
She claimed the debt arose from campaign-related transactions, assertions the minister rejected outright as lacking evidential basis.
Authorities subsequently initiated legal proceedings on a defamation charge related to the public statements.

The businesswoman was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, and granted bail pending further proceedings.
The case remains before the judiciary, with no adjudication on the merits of the underlying allegations.
The minister emphasised that his decades in public service, including roles as party chairman, deputy governor and two-term governor of Ebonyi State, have not been accompanied by credible allegations of misconduct.
He reiterated his commitment to national development and ongoing infrastructure projects, urging the public to allow due legal processes to unfold.
No judicial determination has been reached regarding the substance of the allegations, and the matter remains under legal consideration.
