The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, has explained why the party is backing President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
Oyetola made the remarks in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser, Bolaji Akinola, following the formal endorsement of Tinubu by the Osun APC on February 14 at a grand reception at Freedom Park, Osogbo. The event also welcomed five federal lawmakers and their supporters who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.
According to Oyetola, the endorsement was based on Tinubu’s performance, courage, and vision for Nigeria’s future.
He noted that the President took tough but necessary decisions early in his administration to rescue the nation’s economy from collapse.
Oyetola highlighted key reforms, including fiscal and monetary measures to stabilise the economy, attract foreign investment, and improve transparency in public finance.
He said the policies are already yielding positive results, with increased revenue generation and strengthened confidence in Nigeria’s financial system.
The Minister also commended Tinubu’s focus on infrastructure development across the country, citing ongoing investments in roads, rail, ports, and energy.
He said the administration’s efforts to expand various sectors are creating jobs and promoting sustainable growth.

On social welfare, Oyetola praised initiatives such as targeted intervention programmes, student loans, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, describing them as evidence of a reform-minded and compassionate government.
He also affirmed that security remains a top priority, with enhanced coordination among agencies to strengthen national stability.
Describing Tinubu as a seasoned administrator with a proven track record in Lagos State and national politics, Oyetola stressed that continuity is crucial.
He said a second term would allow the President to consolidate reforms, complete major infrastructure projects, and fully stabilise the economy.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated courage, capacity, and commitment to reposition Nigeria. What he needs now is time to complete the good job he has started,” Oyetola said, adding that all APC members in Osun are fully aligned behind the President’s re-election bid.
He also expressed confidence that the APC gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will win the Osun State governorship election scheduled for 15 August 2026.
