2027: Shettima, Yilwatda Mobilise Support For Tinubu In Ekiti

Vice President Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, have rallied party leaders and supporters in Ekiti State to secure renewed backing for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mobilisation exercise, held in Ado-Ekiti, brought together members of the APC National Working Committee, governors and other influential party figures. The event also provided an opportunity to unveil the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections.

Yilwatda, in a statement posted on his X handle on Thursday, said the large turnout at the rally reflected the growing confidence of supporters in the ruling party.

He described the gathering as a sign of the APC’s determination to strengthen its political influence ahead of the next general elections.

“The excitement was palpable, the atmosphere electrifying, and the massive crowd that turned out to receive us was a powerful demonstration of the people’s enthusiasm, confidence and unwavering faith in the APC,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, the APC chairman urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s administration, crediting the President with pursuing reforms and policies he said would drive national prosperity.

“Our message was clear: President Tinubu is a performer, a reformer and a leader whose policies are laying the foundation for a more prosperous Nigeria,” Yilwatda stated.

He also highlighted federal infrastructure projects in Ekiti, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads connecting Ado-Ekiti with Akure, alongside other completed and ongoing developments.

According to him, the projects reflect the Federal Government’s efforts to improve road transportation, encourage economic growth and raise living standards.

On taxation, Yilwatda defended the administration’s ongoing reforms, explaining that they were intended to shield low-income earners and small businesses from excessive tax burdens.

“The ongoing tax reforms are designed to protect low-income earners and small businesses, ensuring that those who should not pay taxes are no longer burdened with unnecessary tax obligations,” he said.

The party chairman also cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a major government initiative aimed at making higher education more accessible.

He added that qualified beneficiaries receive N20,000 monthly as upkeep support to help meet their educational expenses.

Yilwatda said the various interventions were designed to create more opportunities, empower Nigerians and improve the country’s development prospects.

He described the reception in Ekiti as evidence of the APC’s preparedness and cohesion ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Ekiti has spoken through its enthusiasm. The message is unmistakable: the APC is ready, united and determined to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.

The rally is part of the ruling party’s nationwide mobilisation activities as it prepares for the 2027 elections and seeks to strengthen support for its candidates.
