The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to ensure President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secures victory in both Rivers State and the FCT in the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the declaration on Wednesday during a media chat with selected journalists in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor claimed he remained firmly in control of the political structure in Rivers State and the FCT, describing himself as the “general commander” of the political machinery in both territories.
“It is certain that I will deliver two states, FCT and Rivers for Tinubu. You don’t need a governor to be in charge, I’m the general commander of the political structure in Rivers,” Wike said.
He added, “In Rivers, I’m in charge. So also the FCT.”
Wike attributed his political influence in the two territories to the loyalty and support of major political parties and political structures operating in Rivers State.

According to him, the absence of a governor from his political camp would not prevent him from mobilising support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The minister’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State, where various political interests have continued to reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike, who served as Rivers governor between 2015 and 2023, has remained a prominent figure in the state’s political affairs despite his appointment as FCT minister.
His latest declaration signals his intention to deploy his political influence to secure support for Tinubu in Rivers State and the FCT as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 polls.
The minister’s position also comes amid wider realignments involving politicians and political groups across the country as parties and political actors begin positioning themselves for the presidential and other elections scheduled for 2027.
