Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has warned that the outcome of the 2027 governorship election will be determined by God and the people, cautioning that anyone attempting to manipulate results should prepare their wills first.
Speaking at the Government House, Umuahia, on Thursday, October 16, during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, the governor said, “The will of God and the mandate of the people will determine who wins the 2027 governorship election in Abia. Nobody should contemplate rigging results against people’s wills.”
Otti made the remark while responding to a question about a recent comment by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly declared that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would take over power in the state come 2027.

“I have heard that some people around him say oh, they must take over this State, they must write results but the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time. You know what it is? Their will,” Otti said.
Describing Kalu as “a friend and younger brother,” Otti said he had forgiven him for making unflattering comments about his personality and administration.
He, however, urged political actors to maintain peace and decorum in the state.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, clarifying that he has no plans to defect to the APC.
