Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have foiled an attempted bandit attack in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering weapons and motorcycles from the fleeing assailants.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops received a distress call from locals in Majebiyu Village, Ibi LGA, after a group of armed men invaded the community, shooting sporadically and looting valuables, including motorcycles.
In a swift response, the soldiers deployed from Tapga Ngasawa Village moved to the scene and engaged the attackers. On sighting the advancing troops, the bandits fled into nearby bushes, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds during the encounter.
A subsequent search and clearance operation led to the recovery of five dane guns and two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing suspects.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and prompt action. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to rid Taraba and its environs of illegal arms and criminal elements.
The Nigerian Army also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations aimed at sustaining peace and security in the state.
