Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress to maintain unity and harmony as the party approaches its governorship primary for the June 20, 2026, election.
Speaking on Thursday, October 16, in Ado Ekiti during the celebration of his third year in office, Oyebanji described the contest for the APC governorship ticket as a “family affair” and emphasised that no candidate should be viewed as a winner or loser at this stage.
“Let me advise our party members that as we move towards the primary election, the party is one. No winner, no loser. I don’t want abusive songs; I don’t want anybody to be abused,” he said.
Oyebanji stressed that ambition is natural in politics but reminded aspirants that leadership is ultimately determined by God.
“All of us want to serve the Ekiti people. Every right-thinking citizen has the right to aspire to the office of governor, but it is God who decides who assumes power.

“Nobody has lost in this contest, and all of us have won. I am appealing to all members to refrain from abuse,” he added.
The governor also called for reconciliation after the primary, noting that since the contest remains within the APC, all members should come together for the good of the party.
“I am not begrudging anybody. This is a family contest, and once it concludes, we must unite to ensure the party remains strong,” Oyebanji said.
Earlier, four APC members, including Oyebanji, Kayode Ojo, Abimbola Olawumi, and Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo, declared interest in the governorship ticket.
The APC National Working Committee cleared Oyebanji and Oluremi for the primary scheduled for October 27 while disqualifying Ojo and Olawumi. Oluremi subsequently withdrew, making Oyebanji the party’s consensus candidate.
