The Imo State Government has launched a comprehensive recertification exercise for all landed property located within government-designated layouts across the 27 local government areas of the state.
The initiative was announced on Monday in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, who said the move follows a directive from Governor Hope Uzodinma aimed at updating and sanitising property records.
According to Emelumba, the exercise will begin with a full re-survey of properties in layouts under the Owerri Schedule, scheduled to commence on Monday, December 8, 2025.
He revealed that accredited surveyors have been mobilised and will be deployed to various sites to gather data required for the issuance of new Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-Os) to qualified allottees and property owners.
