The Nigerian Army has dealt a major blow to banditry in Northwest Nigeria with the elimination of notorious criminal Kachalla Kallamu during an operation in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
A source within the 8th Division confirmed the operation on Tuesday, calling Kallamu’s death “a significant victory in the ongoing war against terrorism and banditry in the Northwest.”
Kallamu, a key figure in the region’s violent bandit networks, was responsible for a string of deadly raids, kidnappings, and livestock thefts that terrorized communities across Sokoto and neighboring states.
Security analysts say his removal could disrupt operations of multiple armed gangs and weaken their networks.
Military operations in Sokoto and other Northwest states have intensified in recent months, targeting bandit hideouts and ransom networks.
