Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on 13 December 2025 received the national working committee (NWC) of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his Abeokuta residence, as the opposition party continues to wrestle with internal divisions.
The delegation was led by Kabiru Turaki (SAN) and comprised senior party figures including Muazu Babangida Aliyu, former Niger State governor; Jonah Jang, former Plateau State governor; Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President, as well as other party elders.
The visit came against the backdrop of persistent leadership disputes within the PDP and the emergence of parallel party structures, developments that have deepened concerns over unity and organisational stability ahead of future electoral contests.
During the closed-door meeting, Obasanjo reassured the committee that the party’s challenges were surmountable, urging members to remain focused on rebuilding efforts.

While details of the deliberations were not disclosed, the Abeokuta engagement underscored Obasanjo’s continued influence within the PDP and his role as a key moral voice as efforts intensify to stabilise the party and restore confidence among members.
