Ekiti APC Rallies Members for E-Registration, Seeks Loyalty

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has called on its members to actively participate in the ongoing national electronic registration exercise, describing it as crucial to strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

The Coordinator of the APC e-registration exercise in the state and Commissioner for Youth Development, Adesola Adedayo, made the appeal on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with senatorial coordinators and local government supervisors.

Adedayo said participation in the exercise would help confirm members’ loyalty and commitment to the party’s success, noting that the programme began last year with the training of agents who would conduct the registration at the ward level.

He said the exercise, approved by the Prof. Nentawe Yilwadta-led National Working Committee, would run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. across the state’s 177 wards. According to him, eligible participants must be at least 18 years old and possess valid Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter cards and National Identification Numbers.

Describing the exercise as vital to strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, Adedayo urged supervisors to mobilise members aggressively and provide necessary guidance to ensure a smooth registration process.

He said a robust and sustained membership drive was essential to the viability of any political party, adding that the exercise would enable the APC to determine its actual support base and membership profile ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adedayo also said the registration exercise was critical to the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the June 20 governorship election, urging members who require clarification on the process to seek assistance from the State Working Committee and ward supervisors.

Commending the party’s national leadership for initiating the programme, he said the e-registration aligns with international best practices and demonstrates the APC’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy.

Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Sola Elesin, urged party members to emulate his example by promptly registering. Elesin, who recently completed his registration, described participation as a demonstration of loyalty and readiness to contribute to the party’s growth and electoral success.

He said proper registration would ensure that members are duly recognised while strengthening the party’s internal structures and data integrity.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State chapter of the APC has described the nationwide e-registration exercise as compulsory, not symbolic or optional. In a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, said the reform was aimed at strengthening internal democracy and party discipline.

Oladejo said the exercise would eliminate duplication, impersonation and unverifiable records in the party’s membership register, adding that political parties that resist modernisation risk decline in a rapidly evolving democratic environment.

He said the initiative would also provide a level playing field for members by dismantling gatekeeping structures, describing the APC as an open and expanding political movement.
