A survivor has been pulled out alive from the wreckage of the Great Nigeria House on Lagos Island, Lagos State, 11 days after the building collapsed following a fire incident.
Sources confirmed that the man was located alive on Tuesday afternoon, the 6th of January, 2026, during ongoing operations at the site.
The multi-storey structure had caught fire on Christmas Eve and later collapsed, leading Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to direct that the remains of the building be demolished due to safety concerns.
In the days after the collapse, fears grew that no one had survived the incident. However, emergency teams continued their search-and-rescue mission, combing through the rubble despite the odds.

Their persistence paid off when the victim was discovered alive beneath the debris more than a week after the disaster.
Officials have yet to disclose the identity or medical condition of the rescued man, as rescue activities are still ongoing at the location.
