In a dramatic turn at the Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o has been handed a four-game suspension for alleged misconduct during Cameroon’s recent defeat to Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also imposed a $20,000 fine on the legendary striker-turned-administrator following the incident, which reportedly involved Eto’o gesturing angrily towards Moroccan counterpart Fouzi Lekjaa.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe was present at the match when the altercation occurred.
Reacting to the ruling, FECAFOOT released a statement challenging the decision, describing the suspension and fine as lacking “any explicit justification” and promising to respond formally to CAF.
