The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched disciplinary proceedings following reports of misconduct involving players and officials at the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
In a statement released on Monday, the continental football body confirmed that it is investigating incidents that occurred during two quarter-final fixtures — the encounter between Cameroon and host nation Morocco, and the clash involving Algeria and Nigeria.
CAF said it had examined official match reports alongside video footage, which revealed actions considered to be below the standards expected at its competitions.
“CAF has reviewed recent match reports and video evidence indicating potentially unacceptable behaviour from some players and officials,” the statement read, adding that the incidents had been officially referred to its Disciplinary Board.
The governing body stressed that any individual found culpable after investigations would face appropriate sanctions in line with CAF regulations.
Beyond on-field incidents, CAF also disclosed that it is reviewing footage relating to an alleged case of misconduct involving members of the media in the mixed zone following one of the matches.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance, CAF condemned all forms of inappropriate conduct, particularly acts directed at match officials, organisers, or competition personnel.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour during matches, especially those targeting referees or match organisers,” the statement said, noting that disciplinary measures would be pursued against anyone whose actions fall short of professional standards.
The investigations add another layer of scrutiny to the tournament’s knockout stage, as CAF seeks to uphold discipline, fairness, and professionalism throughout the competition.
