INEC Renews Drive For Service Excellence at Enugu Workshop

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and citizen-focused service delivery with the commencement of a two-day Certified Technical Capacity Building Workshop for SERVICOM Departmental Desk Officers in Enugu State.

The workshop, which began on Monday, is aimed at reviewing the third edition of INEC’s Integrated Service Charter and developing a Local Service Charter to enhance service standards across the Commission.

It is being organised in collaboration with the SERVICOM Presidency Team and received the approval of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan.

Declaring the workshop open, the Director of Administration, Mr Austin Orogbu, who represented the INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Sani Adams, and the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Rose Anthony, said the training underscored the Commission’s seriousness about improving service delivery.

Orogbu commended the SERVICOM unit for emerging as the “most improved parastatal service unit,” describing the recognition as evidence of INEC’s ongoing reforms. He urged desk officers to be innovative and ensure that the workshop produces tangible outcomes.

The Administrative Secretary of INEC in Enugu State was represented at the event by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Rex Achimie, who delivered a welcome address on behalf of the state office.

Achimie described the workshop as timely and strategic, noting that credible elections depend not only on sound laws and technology, but also on efficient service delivery, responsiveness to stakeholders and adherence to best administrative practices.

He thanked the SERVICOM Presidency Team for its continued support to the Commission.

According to the organisers, the workshop is designed to align INEC’s Service Charter with its strategic objectives, integrate stakeholder feedback, assess existing performance metrics and identify gaps in service delivery.

The expected outcomes include clearer service definitions, improved institutional accountability, higher stakeholder satisfaction and a more efficient service delivery framework.

Officials said the initiative reflects INEC’s determination, under the leadership of Prof. Amupitan, to strengthen internal processes and boost public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system through improved service delivery.
