The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, launching the second phase of voter enrolment across Nigeria.
The exercise resumed on January 5, 2026, following the conclusion of the first phase on December 10, 2025.
The initial phase included both online pre‑registration, which began on August 18, 2025, and in‑person registration at designated centres starting August 25, 2025.
The period between phases was used to conduct statutory activities, including the display of the preliminary register of voters for claims and objections from December 15 to 21, 2025, allowing citizens to review entries and request corrections where necessary.
INEC said the resumed registration is open to all eligible Nigerians aged 18 and above.
The exercise allows citizens to register for the first time, transfer their voting locations, update personal information, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The commission also urged voters who registered during the first phase to verify their details and ensure the accuracy of the voters’ register.
Voter registration remains suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to ongoing electoral activities.
INEC said new dates for resuming registration in these areas will be announced later.
