The Nigerian Army has commenced a nationwide verification and screening exercise for children of personnel who died in active service, as part of its educational sponsorship programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
A statement on the Army’s official X handle on Thursday confirmed that the exercise will take place across the country’s six geopolitical zones between February and March 2026.
The programme aims to provide primary, secondary, and tertiary education for children of fallen soldiers.
According to the schedule, the South-South zone exercise will be held from February 23 to 26, 2026, at the Headquarters, 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The South-East screening is slated for February 28 to March 3, 2026, at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Enugu, while the South-West exercise will run from March 5 to 8, 2026, at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the northern regions, the North-East exercise will take place from March 11 to 14, 2026, at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Armour Corps in Bauchi, Bauchi State, and the North-West session is scheduled for March 16 to 20, 2026, at the Headquarters, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna.
The North Central zone and the Federal Capital Territory will conduct screenings from March 23 to 27, 2026, at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja.
The Army urged applicants to bring all necessary documentation, including handwritten application letters, school admission letters, report cards, birth certificates, death certificates of the deceased personnel, condolence letters, and relevant bank details.
Passport photographs, Notification of Casualty, and Part II orders of birth and death are also required.
