Middle East Tensions: Kaduna CAN Reassures Families Over Pilgrims’ Safety

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna has assured Nigerians that Christian pilgrims from the state currently in Israel are safe despite rising tensions in the Middle East.

The reassurance came amid global concerns over reports of a planned military action involving Israel and the United States against Iran.

The Chairman of CAN Kaduna State, Rev. Maaji Caleb, gave the assurance on Saturday while speaking from Israel via a WhatsApp call on behalf of the delegation. He dismissed fears over the security of the Nigerian pilgrims, stressing that there was no cause for alarm.

“We are safe and praying fervently for Kaduna State and Nigeria. There is no cause for alarm here. Every pilgrim from Kaduna is safe,” Caleb said.

He explained that the pilgrims had continued their spiritual exercises without disruption since arriving in Israel, noting that adequate security measures had been put in place by relevant authorities and tour coordinators to guarantee the safety of the delegation.

Caleb added that while developments in the region had generated global anxiety, the situation had not affected the Christian holy sites being visited by the group. He said the delegation remained focused on its spiritual mission and that activities had proceeded as scheduled.

The cleric also disclosed that the pilgrims had devoted time to praying for peace and stability in Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State. “We are praying for our peace-loving Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and President Bola Tinubu for God’s guidance and protection. Nigeria will be great, Kaduna State will be great and enjoy the peace of God all around,” he stated.

He urged families and loved ones of the pilgrims to remain calm, assuring them that the delegation was in constant touch with authorities and tour coordinators in Israel. Caleb reaffirmed the commitment of Christians in Kaduna State to national unity and peaceful coexistence, especially during a time of global uncertainty.

He called on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in the Middle East and across the world, emphasising that dialogue and restraint remained essential for global stability.

The Kaduna CAN chairman added that the pilgrims were expected to conclude their spiritual tour in the coming days and return home as scheduled.
