There were concerns for Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian striker was forced off at halftime during Galatasaray’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool FC in Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash.
Osimhen, who started the encounter, was substituted in the 46th minute following an apparent injury, dealing a blow to Galatasaray’s hopes of mounting any comeback after a difficult first half.
Liverpool had taken control of the match in the 28th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a composed finish.
The hosts had a chance to double their lead before the break, but Mohamed Salah missed a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time.
The second half, however, saw a ruthless response from the English side. Hugo Ekitike extended Liverpool’s lead in the 51st minute before Ryan Gravenberch added a third just two minutes later, effectively putting the contest beyond reach.

Salah would go on to cap a dominant performance in the 62nd minute, finding the back of the net to seal a comprehensive victory.
The goal also saw the Egyptian forward reach a historic milestone, becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
The defeat marks a disappointing night for Galatasaray, compounded by the injury to their talisman Osimhen, whose condition will now be closely monitored ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s emphatic win secures their place in the quarter-finals, where they are set to face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in what promises to be a blockbuster tie.
