The former deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 Bayelsa State election, Great Joshua Maciver, has officially resigned his membership of the party, citing personal reasons.
In a letter dated March 27, 2026, and addressed to the APC Chairman of Olodiama 2, Ward 04 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Maciver expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as an active member throughout his time in its ranks.
Maciver, who was the running mate to Chief Timipre Sylva in the 2023 Bayelsa governorship election, had prior to his latest decision expressed dissatisfaction with the internal party developments.
Sources say his decision may be linked to concerns over the handling of party affairs, particularly the recently concluded APC congresses in the state.

Despite his displeasure, Maciver had always reaffirmed his commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, signalling continued support for the party at the national level.
Maciver, who also serves as the Bayelsa State Coordinator for Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, is a significant political figure in the state, and his sudden resignation calls for concern.
Political analysts suggest that his exit could indicate emerging internal divisions within the Bayelsa APC and may trigger a wave of defections in the coming days.
