Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally announced his intention to run for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf will be contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
He made his declaration on Thursday in Daura while addressing party leaders and supporters. The announcement followed his visit to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Wednesday, where he sought backing for his ambition.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” Yusuf said.

At the gathering, Dan Madamin Daura and the District Head of Dumurkol, Alhaji Musa Haro, appealed to stakeholders to rally behind Yusuf’s candidacy.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support. We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them and seek their support.
“Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 per cent,” Haro said.
Yusuf attended the event alongside former lawmaker Fatuhu Muhammad and several members of his family.
The seat he seeks is currently held by Aminu Jamo, who represents the constituency in the National Assembly.
