The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he has not endorsed any individual for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
Wike made the clarification in Abuja on Wednesday, May 6, during his monthly media briefing, where he addressed growing speculation about his preferred candidate.
He explained that any decision on endorsement would depend on consultations within a broader political alliance involving members of both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in the state.
“I have not (endorsed anybody) and I cannot endorse somebody until the joint coalition meets,” Wike said during the media chat.

He added that the alliance, which cuts across party lines, remains part of a deliberate political strategy.
“We have loyalists in PDP, we have loyalists in APC. I have never hidden the fact that everywhere you say rainbow coalition.
“We have put ourselves together and it is a political strategy because we have somebody we will fight,” he said.
Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing political manoeuvring in Rivers State, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
