The Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned reports claiming it had adopted Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship hopeful, Chief Ifeanyi Odii, for the 2027 governorship election.
Addressing journalists in Abakaliki on Friday, July 3, 2026, the party’s state chairman, Hon. Enyinnaya Udensi Alum, said the NDC had not entered into any political understanding with the PDP and had not mandated any person or group to announce support for a candidate outside its platform.
He alleged that those circulating the endorsement claim were former members who had been expelled from the party over alleged financial misconduct and actions considered contrary to the party’s interests.
Alum maintained that the affected individuals no longer have any standing in the NDC and cannot legitimately make political declarations or commitments on its behalf.

He dismissed the reported endorsement as a misrepresentation of the party’s position, stressing that the NDC would contest the 2027 governorship election with its own candidate.
The chairman cautioned party members against participating in any event organised in the party’s name to support another political party or its candidate, warning that such actions would amount to anti-party conduct.
He also advised the public to ignore any statements or activities by the expelled members, insisting they no longer represent the NDC in any capacity.
Reaffirming the party’s position, Alum said the NDC remains focused on consolidating its structures and mobilizing support ahead of the 2027 governorship election, adding that its campaign efforts would be directed exclusively towards securing victory for its own governorship candidate.
