The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed the death of two men in a fatal road crash that occurred at Ogbere Junction along the Ogbere–J4 corridor in Ogun State.
The Sector Public Education Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to the FRSC, the accident occurred at about 5:10 a.m. and involved a white Mack truck with registration number ABC 660 XC and an orange Peugeot J5 bus with an unknown registration number.
Odunsi said four male occupants were involved in the crash. Two persons died, while two others escaped unhurt.
He attributed the crash to route violation and excessive speed, explaining that the force of the collision caused the Peugeot J5 bus to burst into flames, leaving its front section completely burnt.
“FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene within two minutes of being notified and immediately commenced traffic management.

“The affected lane was diverted to the alternative carriageway to ease vehicular movement while efforts continued to remove the wreckage and restore free flow of traffic,” he said.
The FRSC spokesperson added that the bodies of the deceased were evacuated by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force Motor Traffic Division, Ogbere Division, and deposited at a nearby mortuary.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
He warned drivers against speeding and route violations, particularly during periods of poor visibility and on wet road surfaces, stressing that such dangerous driving habits remain major contributors to fatal road crashes across the country.
The command reiterated its commitment to improving road safety through sustained traffic law enforcement, public enlightenment campaigns and prompt emergency rescue operations.
