Accord Party Confirms Olawepo-Hashim As 2027 Presidential Flagbearer

The Accord Party has formally endorsed businessman and politician, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following affirmation primaries held across several states in the country.

The party announced on Sunday, May 31, that Olawepo-Hashim recorded 423,902 affirmative votes in the exercise, which officials said reflected strong internal confidence in his leadership and political vision.

In a statement issued through the Olawepo-Hashim Media Office, the party said the affirmation process witnessed significant participation from members and supporters across the states where the exercise was conducted.

Although he was the sole aspirant, the Accord Party explained that the exercise was designed to formally validate his candidacy through internal democratic endorsement.

The Returning Officer for Kebbi State, Yahaya Mohammed, who announced the outcome, said the process was conducted in line with party regulations and demonstrated broad-based support for the candidate.

He revealed that Jigawa State led with 198,200 votes, followed by Kano State with 124,101 votes. Nasarawa State delivered 47,309 votes, Kebbi State recorded 46,852 votes, Kwara State contributed 3,348 votes, while Lagos State returned 4,548 affirmative votes.

“The exercise was peaceful, transparent and credible. The outcome demonstrates the confidence party members have in Dr Olawepo-Hashim and his vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria,” Mohammed said.

Party officials said the result signals growing momentum within the Accord Party and reflects preparations to expand mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Accord Party, founded in 2006, has maintained a relatively modest presence in national politics, with stronger influence in parts of the South-West and occasional electoral gains at sub-national levels.

With his emergence, Olawepo-Hashim joins the growing list of aspirants already positioning for the 2027 presidential race as political activities intensify ahead of the polls.
