A member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly representing Girei State Constituency, Abubakar Abdullahi, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Abdullahi presented his resignation letter during plenary on Tuesday, citing the crisis rocking the party as the reason for his decision.
Speaker of the House, Bathya Wesley, read the letter on the floor and wished the lawmaker well in his future endeavours.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Bernard Hyelamada, confirmed that more members may resign.
“On Tuesday, the Assembly received one letter from a member representing Girei, Abubakar Abdullahi. More may send their letters on Wednesday during the House plenary,” he said.
The development comes days after the senator representing Adamawa South Senatorial District, Binos Yaroe, also resigned from the PDP.

In a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Yaroe said his decision was based on what he described as the fractured state of the party at the national level.
He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to contest and win elections in 2019 and 2023 but noted that he was withdrawing his membership with immediate effect.
Yaroe has yet to officially announce his next political platform, though sources indicate he may join the African Democratic Congress.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State PDP Publicity Secretary, Victor Dogo, recently said all PDP National Assembly members in the state would follow Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to the All Progressives Congress or any party he defects to.
