The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has emphasized its dedication to boosting women’s involvement in Nigerian politics and governance.
The party highlighted that its constitution guarantees 40 percent of all party positions at every level for women. This policy positions ADC among the few political parties in the country with a clear framework for promoting female leadership.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Secretary of ADC, shared this message on Sunday, the 8th of March, 2026, through a statement on his official X handle to mark International Women’s Day.
Abdullahi stressed that the party is committed to fostering a political culture where women are empowered to lead and actively shape Nigeria’s political and governance landscape.

In the post, he wrote: “On this commemoration of #WomensDay, as the only political party in Nigeria whose constitution reserves 40% of all party positions at all levels to women, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) reaffirms our commitment to building a political culture where women can lead and participate fully in shaping our politics and governance.”
He also urged more Nigerian women to join ADC and contribute to efforts toward creating a more inclusive political system.
Abdullahi noted that enhancing women’s participation in politics is essential for strengthening democracy and achieving balanced representation in governance.
