FA Cup Surprises: Southampton, Port Vale Make Quarter-Finals

Six clubs have secured places in the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup following Sunday’s fifth-round matches, with Championship side Southampton and League One strugglers Port Vale producing shock victories.

Southampton pulled off a dramatic 1-0 upset against Premier League Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The winning moment came in the first minute of stoppage time when Finn Azaz was fouled by Joachim Andersen, resulting in a penalty that Ross Stewart successfully converted.

Port Vale stunned Premier League Sunderland with a 1-0 win at Vale Park. Ben Waine’s 28th-minute strike proved decisive, sending the Valiants into the quarter-finals for the first time in 72 years.

Earlier fifth-round ties had already seen Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool advance, defeating Mansfield Town, Wrexham, Newcastle United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, respectively.

The remaining fifth-round fixtures see Leeds United host Norwich City later on Sunday, with West Ham United facing Brentford on Monday.
