Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to stand against division and work together in unity for the progress of the state.
He made this call on Wednesday, during activities marking the 34th anniversary of the state.
Osun was officially carved out on the 26th of August, 1991, reflecting on that milestone, Adeleke praised the vision and resilience of the state’s founding fathers, noting that their efforts were never about personal gains but about laying a strong foundation for generations to come. He assured that their “labour would not be in vain.”
According to him, over the past three decades, Osun has produced outstanding achievements across education, culture, sports, and enterprise.

Quoting his words: “On this day in 1991, our founding fathers and mothers, through courage, vision, and unwavering determination, achieved an age-long dream and aspiration of having a state we can call our own.
“Today, we remember and honour those who championed the creation of Osun State. Their sacrifices remain the foundation upon which we stand today.
“Since our creation, we have faced both triumphs and challenges. Our state has grown in leaps and bounds. We have every reason to be proud of our achievements.
“Let us reject division, embrace unity, uphold values, and always place Osun first. Together, we can overcome our challenges and make Osun a model of excellence and progress.”
