AEDC Announces Power Outage In Abuja, Nasarawa Over TCN Fault

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a temporary power outage affecting several communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State following a technical fault on a Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) facility.

In a notice shared on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, AEDC attributed the disruption to a fault on the TCN 132kV Apo–Karu Line 1, which interrupted bulk electricity supply to multiple locations within its franchise area.

According to the distribution company, the affected areas include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balaifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and surrounding communities.

The company assured customers that efforts were already underway to restore electricity supply.

“The technical team of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is currently working to restore power supply around 3:00 p.m. today, 10th June 2026,” AEDC stated.

The Disco apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and appealed to affected customers for patience and understanding while repair works continue.

“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company added.

The latest disruption highlights the persistent challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector, where transmission faults, inadequate infrastructure and supply shortages continue to affect electricity distribution across the country.

AEDC is one of Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies and provides power services to the Federal Capital Territory as well as parts of Nasarawa, Niger and Kogi states.

Residents in the affected areas are expected to experience improved supply once TCN completes repairs on the damaged transmission line and restores bulk power to the distribution network.
