Kaduna Court Arraigns Man Over Alleged Theft Of Girlfriend’s iPhone

A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, arraigned a 26-year-old man, Kevin Moses, over the alleged theft of his girlfriend’s iPhone valued at N650,000.

Prosecuting counsel, Chidi Leo, told the court that the offence occurred on May 31, 2026, in the Barnawa area of Kaduna State during a dedication ceremony held at the residence of the defendant’s uncle.

Leo said the complainant, Sharon James, reported that her iPhone went missing during the event. He added that police investigations later traced the device to a buyer, who allegedly told investigators that he purchased the phone from the defendant.

The prosecution said the alleged offense contravenes Section 217 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017, which prescribes punishment for stealing upon conviction.

The defendant, Kevin Moses, who resides in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, was charged with stealing and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The court ordered that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction and provide evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.

The case was adjourned until Wednesday, July 22, 2026, for hearing.
