The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has taken a swipe at the Nigerian Senate for refusing to reinstate Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, the 10th of September, 2025, Amadi condemned the decision, branding it an abuse of senatorial privileges.
He stressed that the Clerk of the National Assembly has no authority to sustain such suspension since the clerk is not a parliamentarian.
Amadi further criticised lawmakers for creating rules they often fail to respect.

“This is a case of overreach. An abuse of privileges of the senators themselves. The National Assembly has the power to suspend its member, but that suspension has to be within the proceeding of that House.
“It’s totally wrong that parliament process awaits judicial determination. The parliament had immunity and self-control. In fact, judicial interventions do not stop parliamentary proceedings,” he said.
