The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a five-day nationwide warning strike beginning on Friday, the 12th of September, 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the 11th of September, 2025, the General Secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Agbor Affiong, confirmed the development.
According to NARD, the decision followed deliberations at its online National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Wednesday,the 10th if September, 2025, and concluded in the early hours of Thursday, the 11th of September.
“Arising from the NARD E-NEC meeting held on Wednesday, the 10th of September, 2025, which extended into the early hours of Thursday, the 11th of September, 2025, the NEC members unanimously resolved to embark on a five-day warning strike.
“The strike will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 12th September 2025, and will end on Tuesday, 16th September 2025.

“All centres are hereby directed to duly inform their hospital managements and continue to press home our collective demands,” the statement reads.
Earlier in the week, NARD President, Osundara Zenith, had shared that doctors were preparing to shut down public hospitals nationwide. He listed poor working conditions, inadequate electricity supply, downgrading of certificates, poor pay, and other unresolved issues as reasons for the planned action.
Meanwhile, the Association of Resident Doctors in the FCT has already been on a separate seven-day warning strike, which began on Monday, the 8th of September, 2025.
