Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been re-arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, barely hours after her release from the Suleja Correctional Centre, in a development that has reignited public debate around her ongoing legal battles.
According to reports, Okorie was re-arrested on Tuesday afternoon shortly after she perfected the bail conditions granted to her by the Federal High Court, Abuja, and was released from custody. The fresh arrest reportedly followed a petition filed by a businesswoman who alleged that the actress owes her ₦5 million and has repeatedly refused to repay the debt.
Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that another actress, said to be close to Okorie and aware of the alleged debt, encouraged the businesswoman to formally petition the police—an action that ultimately led to Okorie’s re-arrest. There are indications that the actress may be detained pending further investigations.
The development comes against the backdrop of Okorie’s earlier arrest on January 26, when she was picked up in Lagos and flown to Abuja over allegations of cyberstalking and cyberbullying. The charges stemmed from a petition filed by her colleague, actress Mercy Johnson Okojie.

Following her arraignment before the Federal High Court, Abuja, the presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, ordered that Okorie be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing of her bail application. On January 30, the court granted her bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with stringent conditions, including the provision of a level 13 civil servant as surety and the submission of relevant documents to verify the surety’s status and residence.
After meeting the bail requirements, Okorie was released by correctional officials—only to be immediately taken into custody again by police operatives.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
As the situation continues to unfold, the case has drawn widespread attention, with many Nigerians calling for clarity, due process, and restraint as legal proceedings take their course.
