APC Chairman Honours Fallen Heroes, Urges Lasting Commitment to National Unity

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s fallen soldiers, describing their sacrifices as the bedrock of the nation’s unity, democracy and continued progress.

In a message shared on his official X handle on Thursday to mark Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Yilwatda called on Nigerians to pause and reflect on the courage and selflessness of men and women of the Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defence of the country.

He noted that the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes were deeply personal, stressing that many left behind families, dreams and promising futures so that Nigeria could remain united, safe and free.

“Their courage continues to live on in the peace we strive to preserve and the nation we continue to build,” the APC chairman said, as he honoured soldiers who lost their lives on battlefields, during peacekeeping missions and in daily efforts to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.

Yilwatda also expressed solidarity with wounded personnel, military veterans living with the scars of service, and families who bear the dual burden of pride and pain following the loss of loved ones.

He emphasised that Nigeria’s democracy and national cohesion are anchored on the sacrifices of gallant officers and soldiers, urging both political leaders and citizens to remain mindful of the price paid for the nation’s stability.

According to him, the bravery of the Armed Forces serves as a constant reminder that nationhood is sustained through sacrifice, duty and love for country.

He concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of departed heroes and called on Nigerians to honour their memories by renewing their commitment to patriotism, unity and the pursuit of a stronger and more secure Nigeria.
