Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced strong support for the recent military intervention in Sokoto State. The operation, which took place on Christmas night, the 25th of December, 2025, saw the United States military under the guidance of President Donald Trump launch strikes against insurgent positions in the region.
While the news has sparked a divide on social media with some Nigerians questioning the implications for national sovereignty and others welcoming the intervention Igbokwe remains firmly in the camp of those celebrating the move.
In a Facebook post shared on Friday morning, the 26th of December, 2025, the APC chieftain expressed a sense of justice being served against the groups that have long terrorized the country’s northern regions.
Igbokwe’s reaction focused on the changing tide in the fight against insurgency. He characterized the current situation as a significant shift in the safety of these criminal elements, using a popular local term to describe the intensity of the strikes.

According to Igbokwe: “Bandits and insurgents are getting wotowoto in Northern Nigeria. For years they have killing and kidnapping Nigerians with reckless abandon.”
He further noted that the era of impunity for these groups may be coming to an end, writing: “Today dynamics have changed. There is no hidden place for the hediots and blood suckers”.
