A wave of defections has hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State, as several members dumped the ruling party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The decampees were received on Sunday, the 24th of August, 2025, by Senator Abubakar Gada, a frontline figure in the ADC coalition.
Gada said the move was proof that Nigerians were increasingly losing faith in the APC administration. He pointed to rising insecurity and worsening economic conditions as key reasons behind the shift.
According to him, Sokoto East, like many parts of the country, is reeling under insecurity and economic setbacks that have crippled farming, weakened job opportunities, and disrupted food supply.
“Our people are battling serious security threats that have destroyed farming, our main source of income. This has caused poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our communities,” he said.

He explained that the surge of new entrants into the ADC reflects the people’s demand for a credible alternative that can address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
“Many Nigerians are coming to ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the country.
The APC government’s poor performance has forced people to look for hope elsewhere, and ADC is providing that option,” Gada said.
