Ex-Benue Speaker Bids Farewell: “I’ve Moved On, The Journey Continues”

Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, has broken his silence after stepping down from office, stressing the need for peace in the state.

Dajoh, who resigned on Sunday, the 24th of August, 2025, just days after reports of a possible impeachment plot by some lawmakers, took to his official Facebook page on Monday, the 25th of August, to express gratitude to those who stood by him during his tenure.

In his message, he acknowledged Governor Hyacinth Alia, members of the Assembly, his aides, staff, and family for their contributions and support.

His statement read: “I have moved on. I want to specially appreciate my constituents of Gboko West (Gbemacha) that first voted for me as a member of the 10th Benue Assembly. I am eternally grateful to them.

I appreciate my dear colleagues who voted me in as the first Speaker of the 10th Assembly and gave me the needed support to the very last day in office.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his support from the beginning of my being the Speaker to my exit.

May I say a big thank you to my aides who were always there in helping me run the office. You guys are great and wonderful. I appreciate the staff of the Assembly too. Your technical support is well appreciated.

And everyone who gave me a helping hand while in the office, know that your service has not gone unacknowledged.

May I specially appreciate my wife, Kundumiyol Dajoh, who gave me the desired love and support while in office. She is the best example of a supportive wife. I appreciate all my family members too.

Finally, and above all, my thanks go to the Almighty God, the maker and giver of all things. I thank you, God, for the good health, wisdom, and grace. May your name be praised both now and forever.

May God, in His infinite goodness, bless you dear family, friends (online too), well-wishers, and people of goodwill for your outpour of love, camaraderie, and support.

Let there be peace and let’s move on. The journey is still ahead.”

Dajoh’s departure marks the end of a short-lived leadership in the 10th Assembly, but his call for unity signals his desire for stability in Benue politics.
