APC National Convention To Host 8,453 Delegates, Minister Idris Says

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold its national convention on March 27 and 28 at Eagle Square in Abuja, with 8,453 delegates expected to participate, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has announced.

Speaking on Thursday, March 26, during the APC world media briefing in Abuja, Idris said the delegates would come from all six geopolitical zones, highlighting the convention as a reflection of the party’s inclusiveness, unity, and democratic maturity.

“We are expecting a total of 8,453 delegates from across the country,” Idris said. “This clearly demonstrates the national spread, inclusiveness, and organisational strength of our great party.”

He assured that arrangements had been finalised to accommodate all accredited delegates. “I want to assure you that nobody will be left out. The party is very responsible, and our budget has a self-adjusting mechanism to accommodate all delegates,” he added.

Idris noted that the movement of delegates and committee members across the country had been smooth so far.

“As we speak, we have not recorded any incidents, and we do not expect any. This reflects the improving security situation and ongoing infrastructure development across the country,” he said.

On media coverage, the minister revealed that a media centre would be set up at the convention venue.

“There will be a media centre to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed. We are inviting all media organisations, and accreditation will be provided for effective coverage,” he said.

He added, “It is important that we report responsibly, honestly, and in the national interest, bearing in mind that Nigeria remains at the heart of everything we do.”

The APC convention comes as the party seeks to demonstrate its organisational strength and commitment to national development under President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
