The All Progressives Congress on Monday, March 2, 2026, conducted the screening of aspirants ahead of its state congress in Benue State, setting the stage for the party’s internal elections scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The exercise took place in Makurdi, where members of the party’s national screening committee evaluated contestants seeking various positions in the state executive committee.
The process was carried out in line with the party’s constitution and congress guidelines issued by its national leadership.
Chairman of the screening committee, Nafiu Kuringafa, described the exercise as orderly and transparent, noting that a number of the positions were uncontested.
He said the committee ensured that all aspirants met the stipulated requirements before being cleared.
Similarly, the chairman of the appeal committee, Mohammed Dambatta, disclosed that no petitions were received at the close of the screening, indicating broad acceptance of the outcome among participants.

The Benue State APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, commended party members for their cooperation and peaceful conduct throughout the process.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a credible congress and urged stakeholders to remain united in the interest of strengthening the APC’s structure in the state.
Governor Hyacinth Alia was acknowledged for his support in ensuring a smooth process, as party leaders expressed confidence that the congress would consolidate internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
The congress is expected to usher in a new state executive committee that will oversee the party’s affairs in Benue for the next tenure.
